The largest of the deer family, this magnificent inhabitant of the northern woods often weighs in excess of a thousand pounds. Bulls often challenge each other by smashing antlers. Dominance is usually decided quickly and serious fighting is rare. Mature bulls can sport antlers sixty inches wide and during the fall rutting period moose can be dangerously unpredictable but always impressive.
