The Log Driver's Waltz ( Based on the song The Log Driver's Waltz, written by Wade Hemsworth ) The Song Starting around 1800, the demand for the mighty white pine brought a new breed to the forests of Ontario. The axes of the lumbermen sang through the winter and in spring the rivers literally flowed with logs destined for the mills and eventually the shores of Britain. The log drivers that kept the timber moving were renowned for their nerves of steel, their skill on the water and especially their light feet as they danced across the floating pine. " For he goes birling down a-down white water; That's where the log driver learns to step lightly. It's birling down a-down white water; A log driver's waltz pleases girls completely. " (Wade Hemsworth) 19" x 31" Framed Limited Edition: $159.00
